Blocchi Saltpan, up close.

Blocchi Saltpan in matt keeps the creamy white and drops the shine. The 60 x 246 mm rectangle has a gentle, mottled face, rated V4 for shade variation, so a wall of it settles into patches of tone.

Run the pieces vertically up a laundry wall or a bathroom wall and it reads taller for it. With Mapei Manhattan 2000 the grout line stays in the background, and the mottling does the talking. It is made in Italy.

Laying notes

Half offset (running bond) is the classic. A one-third offset suits longer tiles and softer finishes, a straight stack reads modern, and a vertical stack lifts the eye. A contrasting grout makes herringbone graphic.
