Tuart Shale, up close.
Tuart Shale is a gloss grey ceramic rectangle, 75 x 300 mm and 8.6 mm thick. The surface is mottled and uneven in tone, and darker edges frame each tile, which gives a wall a lived-in look.
As a wall tile it suits a splashback, a bathroom wall or a laundry wall. Stand the tall rectangles upright to add height, and set them with Mapei Cement Grey so the grout lines nearly disappear.

Laying notes
Half offset (running bond) is the classic. A one-third offset suits longer tiles and softer finishes, a straight stack reads modern, and a vertical stack lifts the eye. A contrasting grout makes herringbone graphic.
