Charcoal does as much work as green in Tallowwood Lichen Matt. It is a rectangle, 75 x 300 mm, with a fine mineral texture across the matt face that keeps the colour from going flat, so even a large surface holds some depth.
Pale timber and brass sit well against it. Set it in a brick offset and use Mapei Tornado in the grout lines, which nearly vanish, so the tile carries the room.
